Hiya, I've made a few modifications to the UK Wikipedians' Collaboration of the Week, and I thought you'd be interested in the new page and helping out again with it, as you have contributed in the past! :) Talrias | talk 21:10, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)

Been doin' a load of these over the weekend. However, I do think we wish to keep the italicization of the initial text, am I right? Therefore version 1 (above) should become version 2 (below)? Is this correct?

Thank you Bobo192 22:18, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Apologies. That should have been the other way around. But I have just made those changes to the page and thus all should be well. Thank you. Bobo192 22:25, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

The article you voted for, Origin of the name California, is now the Translation of the Week. Please help work on it. — J3ff 22:50, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Did you create this image yourself? If you did, can you add a source and a licence. Also, can you transcode to PNG and make it transparent? Cheers. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 02:31, May 17, 2005 (UTC)

Olympic Articles

[edit]

Hey, just curious to know why we have a top-8 table not a medals table for Cycling at the 2004 Summer Olympics. It would be an interesting piece to put on a sub page, e.g. "Cycling at the 2004 Summer Olympics - Country Performance Comparison" (i'm sure there could be a more snappy title), but to my mind a medals table would be more proper. At any case, cheers for the work being done on this cluster of pages.

A.K.A.47 09:31, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
My impression of the result of the discussion from Talk:2004 Summer Olympics medal count was that a top eight table was preferred. Because of this, I've been using that (not only on cycling, but other sports as well). However, I have no personal attachment to it and would not mind having a regular medals table instead. I would recommend avoiding any more subpages than are absolutely necessary (and I don't think a top eight table would be necessary). -- Jonel 19:48, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the category. Users are not subject to categorizing: categories are a tool for articles. Users are not in the article space. Your Russel's paradox joke is appreciated. mikka (t) 01:51, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

fair enough - it was a bad joke, unnecessary and i think i must have been very bored at the time

Hey man, thanks for contributing to Animal Farm. May I ask you that you please cite your source about the spy thingie in the paragraph you contributed? Thanks! Peace! Project2501a 20:30, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Re: CaribDigita here, Just wanted to send a quick note back about the line: "Australia, India, England and West Indies have been placed in separate pools to allow for logistics." I really can't say that I know what this means. " 13:18, 22 April 2005 - User:66.105.208.35 " looks like when/where it was added on that page (2007 cricket World Cup). which I know the ID isn't very helpful, I suspect they may have gotten it from somewhere on the ICC site? Fulham F.C.

I apologise. Me and Arwel talked about it and neither of us liked it. But I agree I was rather hasty in reverting it, even despite mine and his discussion. It's not a life or death matter. I'll bring it up with him again to see what he thinks before doing anything hasty again. Until we reach consensus between the four of us, I think I'll let well alone. -humbly slinks away-

And, at the risk of grovelling.. sorry. Bobo192|Edits

As I say, I'm going to ask people before I make any decisions about anything else. It wasn't so much a decision against the format itself, more about the fact that I've become rather attached to the other format while it's been around. I do that sometimes. As for Lee Clark, It's probably safer I don't get involved with that argument, which is why I probably will end up doing so. Cheers. Bobo192|Edits

Image Tagging Image:Orse.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Orse.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 17:14, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

well, i personally took that photo, so i've clarified that on the page image page, and tagged it as {{gfdl}}. is this ok?

Hi!, Do not worry, unless it has developed a mind of its own it is just working (roughly) alphabetically through the articles, you may notice it more if your articles you have in your watchlist either 1) generally begin with the same letter or 2) you consistently make some kind of minor error. Although, interstingly it wouldn't be very difficult at all to make a stalker bot, it would be prettly pointless though!

I certainly hope Wikipedia is not some kind of experiment, or if it is a an experiment, that is only an unavoidable side effect of the way the encyclopedia is created (which is most likely). I think Jimbo would agree judging from this email, however it is an interesting point.

Essentially, if it is even partially deliberately an experiment, then I am no longer interested at all, and I think many would agree. thanks - Martin 17:41, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello A.K.A.47! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 7 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 257 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
